Important: Creator Store vs. Marketplace publishing criteria… [more]
Roblox recently changed the criteria for publish items to Roblox. The Creator Store, the place creators can upload ‘source’ content for use, derivation or remixing by third-party creators or publishers, is not the same as Roblox Marketplace, where items are sold direct to users. The former is ‘free’ but subject to identity verification. The latter requires at least a Roblox Plus paid monthly subscription and similar identity verification. For more information on the former, Creator Store, see “New Requirements to Publish to the Creator Store“.

Accessory Fitting Tool

To upload stand-alone accessory items to Roblox they must be assembled using the Accessory Fitting Tool, else they will be flagged as ‘invalid’ and rejected.

The Accessory Fitting Tool needs to be used to assemble valid accessory items or they will fail the upload process.

Development Item vs. Avatar Item

Content uploaded to the Roblox through Studio can be used in three contexts;

Personal: use by author/publisher only.
Creator Store: use by third-parties (derivations/sub-licensing etc.).
Marketplace: available for direct sale to userbase.

Important: publishing criteria… [more]
There are different submission criteria and fee structures when publishing content for other creators/parties to use via the Creator Store (Development item), vs. content made available to general users via Marketplace (Avatar item).

Roblox Studio only provides options to upload Development item‘s or Avatar item‘s, Personal item use is inherent to being the author of any published content, it’s available as inventory regardless – subject to approval, personal items do not need to be pushed through the full Creator Store or Marketplace publishing pathway to be available to the user or visible in-game.

Validation & Errors
