the maps were originally started as a test to see if it was possible to build a 'terrain' without the use of the various generators that tend to produce different versions of the same thing, hills. Once that was sorted out and that it could be done the 'game' evolved from there.
It's still
more of a test than a full blown mod as several ideas were put in place to see how they effected gameplay; without using more maps to introduce the background to events that happen in the maps the story itself relies heavily on reading through the infomation in the officers book (once you've got it). The main puzzle was quite complex and 'fiddly' to set up without knowning how detailed they can be made for player interaction and feedback, and the lighting was an attemp to make it more realistic which ment there were many dark spots where light wasn't reaching, this is what this mini mod was set up to test.
As a result a few elements of the original game were retold so from that point of view it may not be as original as hoped but hopefully it should prove entertaining for a short while at least..!
Keep an eye on the
forum for news about a Total Conversion in the works (still early stages) using some of the ideas worked out in spkat1.
