I had made five meshes and decided to put them together in IMVU because of the complexity of in particular one mesh.
I had originally put them in one mesh but that made the texture almost impossible to edit.
So I went from the Kats furniture template for each mesh and appended each opject seperately and saved as a single mesh.

All looks good in Blender and the meshes look good in IMVU when stand alone, but ...
As soon as I put the five meshes together in IMVU, and I apply a texture, the same texture goes to the other meshes.

I have checked bones and UV groups, all set to root. I can't figure out where I went wrong.

Can you post some screenshots of what you're looking at. It appears the problem could be related to your Material assignments but that's tricky to ascertain without pics (or it didn't happen!).

P.S. It's always a good idea to do post screenshots BTW, it helps to see what you're looking at because there are often several ways a problem could occur.

Here is a compilation of four screenshots.
I did not add the fifth here because it is inside the fourth so it would not be visible.
I loaded the four meshes, then I added the texture for the last mesh only.
I edit the textures after finishing in IMVU as the mesh is to be derivable.
To whichever mesh I apply an image, all meshes will get the same image.

I think I need to clarify the original texture.
It is the texture that I applied to the tower earlier, the original would have been the wood texture from "Chair relaxed". I had removed all meshes but the texture was still there.

My preference would be to load the whole project as one mesh but with different textures for the seperate objects.

Hmm yes, that's a Material assignment issue. If you want each *mesh* to have a different Material in IMVU, they need unique Material assignments in Blender; basically what you have now is four objects using the same single Material instead of four objects and four separate Materials - make sure that's four *Material* and four *Image* assignments to each objects and their respective UVs; this is the case for single objects made from multiple parts, or multiple parts.. if each is to be textured differently they all need individualised material/image/UV assignments.
