For IMVU homepage display issues (user profile pages) when using Internet Explorer version 8, 9 or above, check that "Compatibility View" is active - in the address bar at the top of the application is a series of icons, one looks like a torn sheet of paper, click this to activate "Compatibility Mode" for the page being viewed. The settings for this mode can also be changed in "Tools > Compatibility View Settings".

Compatibility View Settings

If neither Compatibility View nor the Menu shown above are not visible, Right click the grey area and select "Menu" from the list of available options. Once the menu is visible, check the settings for Compatibility View.

Any offer that comes from someone other than IMVU is a scam. So if you receive an email and/or inbox message from a named User asking you to click a link to get a "free lifetime VIP pass for IMVU", or "20,000 credits free, just click here", is trying to scam you into handing over your username and password to your account. Once you do this, the account can be difficult to get back [click here for more information on getting accounts back (note this uses a 3rd party service run by concentrix.com)].

So, check how the person identifies themselves, IMVU always has the following;
  • a "Staff" badge on their homepage and/or profile
  • an "IMVU" watermarked background image in site messages
  • an "IMVU" tag attached to their profile image
  • the profile url will always be http://avatars.imvu.com/IMVU inc.
  • their avatar name will always be "IMVU Inc."
  • links will always contain "imvu.com" somewhere in the URL
If any one of these is missing then report the user pretending to be Staff and/or flag an chat or messages received.
