[imvu] problems matching product sizes

I think that my problem is related with this subject.
I am the major deriver from the old Boeing 767 mesh with over 100 airlines derived.

I have an Airbus A380 mesh which is slichtly bigger, still without  an interior.
My first class seat which I already made narrower for a better fit related to the avatar, is still wider than the 767 mesh economy class chair upper image), leaving little room in the path when I put my chair in the 767 mesh (lower image). The 767 mesh has a 2-3-2 configuration, while the planned configuration for my A340 is 2 x 4 seats wide for economy class.  Other configurations may happen in the future with more airplane types planned (B787, A380, B747, ERJ-190 and some Tupolev and Antonovs. (The lower image is a stripped 767 mesh used as freighter).

So you'll understand that I am going to have problems to fit the seats in properly without upscaling the planes in order to keep them in proper size related to the old 767 mesh (which may be slightly too small, but I am not sure about that.)

Any sugguestions to fix this?

Here's another image showing my first class seat mesh having the same width as the 767 mesh first class seat, however the 767 has only 2 x 2 seats, with more room between the seats, where the A340 has 3 x 2 first class, and 2-4-2 for economy class., the 747 has 3-4-3 for both business and economy class, so 10 seats in a row with 2 paths in between.

If you didn't make the mesh these items are supposed to fit then you have no guarantee the author used anything other than approximate measurements to built the item (they very rarely do). This is a fundamental problem making *any* item that's to be used with someone else's content. The problem here isn't theirs so much as it is yours, you have to build your items to hit theirs.

The fix is to build your seat meshes as normal and get them into Create Mode/IMVU. Once there you can assess the fit and then make the appropriate adjustments necessary in Blender before re-export.

That is what I have been thinking. That won't be a problem for the seat size, but will it also reduce the avatar size when they are being seated once submitted to mvu? Or do I have to scale down the seat(n).Sitting?

And thank you. This just gave me a good idea to improve the old 767 mesh. I just wish that I had kept a copy of my first derivation to derive my next derivations from. Then I would have to change only one to change all at once. Certainly a reminder for future derivations. (Makes note to self).  ;D ;D ;D

Whatever you do don't alter the nodes, they are your fixed reference point.

The seat (mesh) height on the other hand, i.e. the distance from ground to avatars seated bum is fixed and known based on the avatar dummy and seat nodes. With this in mind all you do is adjust the rest of the seat mesh to suit - basically you're altering the front-to-back depth, side-to-side width, and adjusting height only as it relates to the main body of the furniture item as a complete unit, seat height as outlined above (ground to bum), remains untouched (assuming the mesh was correct to begin with).

Well, as things look now, I will have to make the complete mesh myself in Blender, and not try to make changes to other people meshes, unless they provide me the original mesh file. So I will have to append the chairs to my plane mesh and duplicate (n) times.

I tried to add the chair mesh to the existing 767 mesh in imvu, which I managed to, but .....
the seat loaded at the plane's root point and I was unable to move it from there.

Next I tried to add the chairs as furniture but that did not work either, as they get lost after submission.
Fortunately I only put a few for testing, but obviously you can't add a furniture mesh to a furniture mesh in imvu. It was a nice try though. :D

Are you trying to add meshes to a derived product? That's only possible if the derived items was/is yours.

The way to do what you're doing is to load two iterations of your mesh and adjust one to the size you need it. Observe the difference and adjust in Blender keeping in mind what was said above about the seating nodes and distance - only modify the main body of the mesh.

Yes. it was my derivation where I added it too, but as I said, I could not move the seat mesh in the proper position.
It got stuck on the landing point.

(Added later): I think I can solve that problem by making the chairs as a complete set which will hover in blender on a heighth that matches the 767 mesh floor. That will only leave me with the problem of the existing standing and seating spots in the 767 mesh. So I think I just forget this whole thing and make my own 767 mesh. Problem solved. :)

If you're having placement issues, use the 'micro' adjustment tools for more accurate positioning. Once "Furniture Tools" is engaged, press "Shift" or "Ctrl" before click-dragging an item. If you're struggling to place an item, especially in relation to another item, use those controls to override movement locking on to wisely dispersed nodes. IMVU should remember placement.

Thanks, I know that trick, but it won't help me. The plane and the mesh got stuck together. :p
When I move one the other comes along.
Like I said, I won't bother again. Better doing my own.
