It's doesn't "prove" it per se. For that you'd need to do a proper listing of the games that have been used to leverage issues like 'censorship'. They are either highly contentious from the outset, like Hatred currently is (the 2014 'Postal'), or something within them can be used, like GTA V and the option to kill certain characters.

It should be noted that there is a difference between  'censorship' in relation to BBFC or ESRB ratings systems (common law frameworks) and 'censorship' based on ideology (book burning). The two approaches are not mutually inclusive.
