Transcript (E&EO).

Loading assets into IMVU using the FBX import feature is relatively straightforward; an FBX file is opened, various options are set, the data is then converted and made available for use. Minor changes may be necessary depending on the product being assembled, for example a pose need only include animation data, whereas rooms need meshes, materials, skeletons and so on.

To import, once the assets have been exported to FBX using the appropriate settings, in IMVU create a new product then click the "fbx import" tab in the open Editor. Top-left, click "load fbx", browse to and select the desired *.fbx file and "Open".

Depending on the product the "Select Skeletal Root" dialogue may appear, choose the appropriate skeleton for the project then click "Configure fbx" to load the data into the importer which will update displaying the new information.

Under "Skeleton" check the bones that have loaded, in "Meshes" select or deselect those needed and set any "mesh id" values if they are to override the derived products defaults, "0" overrides the default room for example. Change the FBX scale value before then clicking the "import" button.

In the subsequent "Import Status" dialogue click "Import Changes", then "Apply Changes" to complete the process. Depending on the product and import settings, the new assets will be correctly set up and ready for further editing.
