Title: Make a simple bat-man style character in Blender
Post by: kat on September 11, 2014, 04:59:05 PM

Video walk-through making a simple "cubie" batman style character in Blender.
Runtime c.40mins.

Using Blenders default Scene cube the user is taken through the process of turning it into a simple low poly "cubie"™ character based on DC Comics Batman (http://www.dccomics.com/characters/batman) (not posed or rigged).

Although the basic process is simple enough, much of it is spent adjusting, tweaking and inspecting the mesh to make sure structure visually balances out left to right. One way to aid doing this is to 'mirror' the mesh (using "Alt+D" to "Duplicate Linked") so changes made to one side are 'mirrored' to the other (immediate updates). Using extrude, "E", the initial blocky structure is built before progressing on to more detailed adjustments, arriving at the final mesh (shown posed in 'cruciform'). Simple Materials are then added to colour surfaces (no textures used).

Important note: *.blend example files cannot be provided for this project.

Very cool, I love Batman. I'm gonna give this a try. I'll do the Hulk too.

If you do the Hulk post pics if you can, it would be interesting to see how that turns out because he's basically all trousers!.
