Title: blender 2.6x is there a shaded display mode?
Post by: ratty redemption on February 24, 2012, 08:55:07 PM
in 2.49b i have several materials which use procedural textures like blend (a black to white transition) instead of external image files. i can load these materials into 2.6x and sucessfully render them, but they don't show up in the 3d view and i can't find a shaded display mode like 2.4x had to preview these.

can anyone here help?

In a word, no. From what I understand this is another of those long-in-the-tooth changes they wanted to make in the new versions; it's part of the reason why transparent textures were such an issue. I suspect you can't 'preview' the material the old way because the 3D scene itself doesn't work the same way as a result. Don't quote me on that though as I don't use procedurals enough to know the ins and outs of the changes they've made.
