Title: Need help with importing AutoCAD DXF files....
Post by: ACDmvmkr on April 18, 2011, 04:26:04 AM
I'm trying to import some old AutoCAD drawings into Blender 249b using the DXF importer. But I keep getting the following error......

(https://www.katsbits.com/community/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.static.flickr.com%2F5267%2F5630145434_55ef309dcf.jpg&hash=72dce0822eae3ef832bc6f01928d157f59a9c82d)

I'm not sure if this is the "console", but this is what it says, and I don't know what it means....

Try using AutoDesks (http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/pc/index?id=6703438&siteID=123112) or SolidWorks (http://www.solidworks.com/sw/products/free-cad-software-downloads.htm) AutoCAD viewers. I can't remember off the top of my head but you might be able to re-export those old cad files using those two apps (which should still be free); Blender has a notoriously difficult time with 'proper' autocad files, I think there's something in them which cause a read/write problem.
