Title: CISPA passed the House
Post by: kat on April 27, 2012, 02:53:29 AM
CISPA, or H.R. 3523 the "Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act of 2011", to give it its full ('Short') title has passed the House. You can see the voting record for H.R. 3523 on GovTrack.us (http://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/112-2012/h192). If you don't know what CISPA is, it's not quite the same as SOPA/PIPA, particular with regards to context (what it's for, so be mindful/wary of those comparisons), but it does have some similarities with respect to the collection, control, use and dissemination of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data, in this instance for [sic]"Security... and other purposes". MSNBC (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/47196773/ns/technology_and_science-security/#.T5nzMsXkpuI) is the only major outlet carrying this at time of writing.

Title: CISA passed Senate

CISPA ("Cybersecurity Information Sharing and Protection Act") failed but it's relative is making its way through Congress. As of the 27th Nov the "Cybersecurity Information Sharing Act of 2015 (https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/114/s754/text/es)" (CISA) passed the Senate vote (https://www.govtrack.us/congress/votes/114-2015/s291) and is moving for voting in the House. Given the overwhelming vote support in the Senate it's likely the Bill will sail through House and into law.
