Title: How to clone objects including their texture/material
Post by: JanXuan on July 19, 2017, 06:15:09 AM
How do I clone objects in a mesh so that I do not need to add texture to each individual copy.
For example: I have an airplane mesh and want to add 240 seats. I don't want to "paint" them each individually but just make one and have the copies in the same color.
And "No", I am not going to put 240 seat nodes.  :p

There are a couple of ways to do this depending on how you want to manage the file/Scene, basically set one up as you want the group to appear (Material, UV etc.) then "Duplicate", "Shift+D"). Or separate the seat from the main mesh (as an Object in its own right), set that up as needed (Material, UV  etc.), then duplicate that (rejoin as needed, select then "Alt+J").

If you want to only be editing a single seat instead of 240, set one seat up then use "Duplicate Linked", "Alt+D", each unit can be uniquely positioned but uniformly edited by changing any single one within the group.
