Title: Making multiple alterations on duplicate objects (Blender 2.49b)
Post by: ACDmvmkr on April 25, 2011, 04:57:36 AM
Is there a way to select a group of similar or identical objects, so that when you make an alteration on one, it effects all the others in the same way?

Ex- select a row of circles or cylinders, and apply a texture to the first one so all the rest update and become textured in the same way???

(....like In AutoCAD, this is done through Blocks....)

Yes through the use of "Duplicates". Make your original mesh object, select it and hit "Alt+D" to create what's called a "Linked Duplicate", Alt+D additional duplicates (can be done from any duplicate of a duplicate but it's best to use the original). Note however, once you do this you have to make specific object "unique" if you want to do some individualised editing, this then 'disconnects' that particular item from the 'duplicate' mechanism.

Simply duplicating an object is "Shift+D" (this is effectively copy/paste for objects).
