Title: Blender GetSkeletonRoots error when exporting to IMVU
Post by: Sadisticat on January 25, 2021, 05:58:11 PM
I've been having an issue where imvu gives me a GetSkekeletonRoots error whenever I try to export anything from blender. I'm trying to export an accessory file that has a texture and a UV map. Has anyone else had this issue or any idea what it is? The mesh is patented to an attachment root. I'm new to blender and can't find any help in the tutorials or I'm just missing it.

Have a watch of this accessory tutorial (https://www.katsbits.com/codex/imvu205/) if you haven't already, it goes through the process of making a simple necklace, including the part you're having trouble with, Parenting and Vertex Group set up - that (obviously) has to be set up correctly otherwise you'll get the error you're having; double-check the mesh is Parented to the Armature object and that is has a corresponding vertex group assignment. These two elements are easy to miss.

Make sure too, to have the mesh and Armature selected for export or disable Selected Objects on export to force the inclusion of everything in the scene that can be filtered out during import into IMVU.

I've watched and watched this tutorial over more times than I can count and have followed every step to the second. I don't understand, I'm still getting the error. I'm using blender version 2.91.0 (Which I think is the latest), do you think that's what might be the issue? Should I be using an older version of blender?

Select the mesh and make sure it has an Armature modifier (Modifier Properties) that's got an Armature object set as the Object, for the ribbon linked above that would be rtWrist (AttachmentRoot). If you're still stuck ding me on Discord - Kat#6600
