Blender for IMVU furniture tutorial

kat:
OK, is the image below what you see?

Don't know why this didn't occur to me but that's perfectly fine... the colour just indicates a Material assignment that has a colour property, "Diffuse", changed from the default 'white-ish' tone (which makes meshes appear grey-ish in the 3D View) to another value (green). Seeing it happens when viewing the Scene in "Solid" display mode - press "Z" and "Alt+Z" to toggle the different display modes, or left-click the little 'sphere' icon in the Header area directly below the main area. The mesh can be edited without issue.

JanXuan:
When entering Edit mode the object should have tiny dots on the corners. I don't see them in my screen.

kat:
Ah, OK I see what's going on now. So two things;

1) edges - what you're seeing are edges marked (assigned) a 'property', in this instance that's "Sharp", it tints edges with the property that blue-ish-green-ish colour. It can be ignored for now as it doesn't affect the edit-ability of the mesh (it's pre-assigned to the mesh for convenience).

2) the dots (vertices) - they are there, just not immediately visible because they're being obscured by all the other on-screen elements. If you right-click near any one of the corners they select and highlight (become more apparent). Or you can press "A" to select the entire mesh and it will highlight as indicated at that point in the video - the fact that they are not highlighted just means they are not selected for manipulation or modification.

The discolouration indicates a property assignment to an edge, "Sharp" in this instance.

JanXuan:
I had to press A twice. It is colored now.  :)

kat:
When that has to be done it means something was already selected; pressing "A" once DEselects everything, pressing "A" again then REselects everything.
