Typically animations sequences play relative to themselves but may be slightly off, incorrectly positioned and\/or orientated relative to Blender grid. For bipedal characters this is primarily due to the way Mixamo skeletons are set up to use a &#8216;<em>hip<\/em>&#8216; or &#8216;<em>pelvis<\/em>&#8216; bone as the skeletal root instead of a generic &#8216;root&#8217; or bone aligned to the grid, a &#8216;ground&#8217; bone. In addition issues may be caused as a consequence of global orientation used by that system (Y up instead of Z up). To fix this, it&#8217;s possible to manually edit the skeleton to compensate and correct the issue so the rig and animation work as expected.<\/p>\n<p><b>Duration<\/b>: total c. 5 mins (00:05:00).<br \/>\n<b>Info<\/b>: 1080p.<br \/>\n<b>Suitability<\/b>: Beginner+.<br \/>\n<b>Source<\/b>: n\/a.<br \/>\n<b>Product ID<\/b>: n\/a.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Design note<\/strong>: some additional information to keep in mind importing Mixamo generated animations\/avatars into Blender;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"snap\"><\/span>Snap<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The errant bone, <strong>mixamorig.Hips<\/strong> or <strong>mixamorig_Hips<\/strong>, does not need to be altered or modified except for alignment snapping to the spine bone, <strong>mixamorig.Spine<\/strong> or <strong>mixamorig_Spine<\/strong>. To do this, with rig selected and in <strong>Edit Mode<\/strong>, select the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/armature-bone\/\"><strong>Tail<\/strong> end of <em>hips<\/em>, then Shift+click the <strong>Head<\/strong> end on <em>spine<\/em><\/a> [1]. From the <strong>Armature<\/strong> menu select <strong>Snap<\/strong>, then <strong>Selection to Active<\/strong> [2] &#8211; <strong><em>Armature \u00bb Snap \u00bb Selection to Active<\/em><\/strong>. Here, <strong>Ignore Leaf Bones<\/strong>, <strong>Force Connected Children<\/strong> and <strong>Automatic Bone Orientation<\/strong> should be enabled (checkbox ticked) [4].<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/mixamo\/fbx-import-settings.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/mixamo\/fbx-import-settings.jpg\" alt=\"FBX import settings\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>During FBX import most settings can remain as-is except the <strong>Armature<\/strong> options, these should be set to reduce ancillary issues after-the-fact.<\/i><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"colladadae-import\"><\/span>Collada\/DAE Import<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Importing animated DAE\/Collada files into Blender [5] that are generated by Mixamo shouldn&#8217;t need to be fixed per the above as, although the hip bone is not precisely aligned, bone alignments and orientation are correct relative to the skeleton as-is so sequences will play-through correctly without modification.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/mixamo\/collada-import-options.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/mixamo\/collada-import-options.jpg\" alt=\"Collada import settings\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Importing a Collada\/DAE file generated by Mixamo should present any issues.
