So, for successful renders, the same procedures should be followed with objects set up to ensure correct results; ideally only the low resolution mesh needs material and\/or image data &#8211; <em>this is what&#8217;s being baked to<\/em>. To <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/tag\/texture-bake\/\">Bake<\/a>, it&#8217;s then just a question of selecting the high-resolution and low-resolution meshes in the correct order, clicking the <strong>Bake<\/strong> button, and saving the resulting image, locking it in place.<\/p>\n<p><b>Duration<\/b>: total c. 5 mins (00:05:00).<br \/>\n<b>Info<\/b>: 1080p.<br \/>\n<b>Suitability<\/b>: Beginner+.<br \/>\n<b>Source<\/b>: n\/a.<br \/>\n<b>Product ID<\/b>: n\/a.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Design note<\/strong>: for more detailed information on using Bake to generate textures see &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/texture-bake\/\">Baking Texture Maps (Texture Bake Basics)<\/a>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"selection-order\"><\/span>Selection Order<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>The whole point about using Bake is to render mesh or material data from a &#8216;<em>source<\/em>&#8216; to a &#8216;<em>target<\/em>&#8216; &#8211; generally speaking the &#8216;source&#8217; is a <em>high-resolution<\/em> or <em>highly detailed<\/em> mesh, the &#8216;target&#8217; is a corresponding low-resolution version. In other words, detail is being transferred from high to low, as such this means the <em>high-resolution mesh is selected first<\/em>, the <em>low-resolution shift-clicked last<\/em> [1], i.e. <strong>Selected to Active<\/strong>.
