The previous options, <i>Inverse<\/i> and <i>(De)select All<\/i>, have been updated so the <b>Select<\/b> menu now includes <i>three<\/i> distinct options; <b>All<\/b>, <b>None<\/b> and <b>Invert<\/b>. This change applies to all Editors, Workspaces and Areas as it ostensibly replaces <b>(De)select All<\/b>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: in essence <b>(De)select All<\/b> (see below) has been split into two distinct actions; selecting everything in a single action (Select All); selecting nothing (Deselect All). In this way the issue of inadvertent menu or shortcut overuse is minimised.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"separate-deselect-all\"><\/span>Separate De\/Select All<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The default selection behaviour comprises <em>three<\/em> shortcut combinations, one key or combination per action, these are; <b>All<\/b>, <span class=\"shortcutkey\">A<\/span>, <i>selects<\/i> everything regardless of any current selection\/s; <b>None<\/b>, <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">A<\/span>, <i>deselects<\/i> everything regardless of current selection\/s; <b>Invert<\/b>, <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Ctrl<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">I<\/span>, <i>inverts<\/i> current selection\/s, i.e. if one side of a cube is selected, <i>Invert<\/i> deselects the initial face and selects everything not previously selected.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #E7FAEA; color: #000;\"><p><span class=\"shortcutkey\">A<\/span> &#8211; selects everything (Select All)<br \/>\n<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">A<\/span> &#8211; deselects everything (Deselect All)<br \/>\n<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Ctrl<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">I<\/span> &#8211; inverts selection (deselects active\/selects inactive)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/select\/select-all-menu.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/select\/select-all-menu.jpg\" alt=\"Select All [1] now selects everything [3] regardless of there being any active selections [2]\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>If a selection has been made [2] (in any Interactive Context mode i.e. Object Mode, Edit Mode etc.) but &#8216;all&#8217; is required [3], choosing the option [1] (by menu or shortcut key) will do this explicitly regardless &#8211; active selections no longer need to be cleared beforehand.<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"single-key-deselect-all\"><\/span>Single key (De)select All<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Although different shortcut combinations are set as defaults for selecting and deselecting it is still possible to use the <span class=\"shortcutkey\">A<\/span> key to the traditional <b>(De)select All<\/b> action. To do, click the main Edit menu and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/user-preferences\/\"><b>Preferences<\/b><\/a> &#8211; <b>Edit \u00bb Preferences<\/b> [1]. In the <b>Blender Preferences<\/b> window click the <b>Keymap<\/b> [2] sub-menu item and under the <b>Preferences<\/b> sub-section activate (click) the <b>Select All Toggles<\/b> checkbox [3].
