As part of this collection <b>Transform Pivot Point<\/b> displays <b>Median Point<\/b> as the default option.<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #fc0; color: #000;\"><p><b>Important<\/b>: for newer versions of Blender the <b><span class=\"shortcutkey\">.<\/span><\/b> (period\/fullstop) shortcut key activates the <b>Pivot Point<\/b> pie or wheel menu instead of switching to <b>3D Cursor<\/b> as per previous versions of the application. Similarly <b><span class=\"shortcutkey\">,<\/span><\/b> (comma) now activates the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/blender-basics\/\">Orientation<\/a> pie menu rather than switching to Bounding Box Center.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/pivot\/pivot-point-pie-menu.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/pivot\/pivot-point-pie-menu.jpg\" alt=\"Pressing . (period\/fullstop) opens the Pivot Point pie menu\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>In newer versions of Blender pressing <span class=\"shortcutkey\">.<\/span> (period\/fullstop) opens the <b>Pivot Point<\/b> pie menu instead of setting the pivot to 3D Cursor per previous versions of Blender.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/pivot\/orientation-pie-menu.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/pivot\/orientation-pie-menu.jpg\" alt=\"Pressing , (comma) opens the Orientation pie menu\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Similarly pressing <span class=\"shortcutkey\">,<\/span> (comma) opens the <b>Orientation<\/b> quick access pie menu rather than setting Bounding Box Center as the pivot (as was done for Blender 2.79 and below).<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"set-pivot\"><\/span>Set Pivot<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To use simply click the <b>Transform Pivot Point<\/b> button centre-top to access the menu options, alternatively press <span class=\"shortcutkey\">.<\/span> (period\/full stop), and set the position around which subsequent transform actions are to be focused or rooted, for example if <b>3D Cursor<\/b> were set manipulating an object would result in the selection moving in relation to the 3D Cursors location instead of around the object itself had <b>Active Element<\/b> been set.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Active Element<\/b>: Origin of LAST object selected\/clicked.<br \/>\n<b>Median Point<\/b>: location averaged between objects (single\/group).<br \/>\n<b>Individual Origins<\/b>: individual object Origin (single\/group).<br \/>\n<b>3D Cursor<\/b>: position of the 3D Cursor.<br \/>\n<b>Bounding Box Center<\/b>: centre of selection volume (single\/group).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: to manually place the <b>3D Cursor<\/b> its position can be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/snap\/\">snapped<\/a> to an object or selection, i.e. <b>Object \u00bb Snap \u00bb Cursor to Selected<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>), or manually placed using <b>3D Cursor<\/b> XYZ coordinates, <b>View \u00bb Toggle Sidebar \u00bb View (tab) \u00bb 3D Cursor (subsection)<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">N<\/span>).
