To do this click the red <b>Download<\/b> button on the models host page and select a file format &#8211; options include alternative versions of SketchUp&#8217;s<b> *.skp<\/b> format, <b>Collada File<\/b> (<b>*.dae<\/b>) and <b>Google Earth KMZ<\/b> (<b>*.kmz<\/b>). This will save the file locally which can then be opened into SketchUp (Make, Free, Shop or Pro).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: it&#8217;s generally a good idea to check 3D Warehouse models in SketchUp before import into Blender.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/3d-warehouse\/3d-warehouse-download.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/3d-warehouse\/3d-warehouse-download.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Click Download and select a format to save the model locally\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Click the <b>Download<\/b> button and select an appropriate format to save the 3D Warehouse model locally.<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"sketchup-export\"><\/span>SketchUp Export<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Once the 3D Warehouse file has been downloaded and saved, open it into SketchUp (non-browser based stand-alone Make, Shop or Pro only) and from the <b>File<\/b> menu select <b>Export<\/b>, <b>3D Model&#8230;<\/b> &#8211; <b>File &raquo; Export &raquo; 3D Model&#8230;<\/b>. Set any options as required and export to generate an FBX, DAE or other file Blender can import.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: if a <b>Collada File<\/b> was downloaded this step can be skipped, <a href=\"#dae-import\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">go to <b>DAE Import<\/b> below<\/a>. For <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/tutorials\/blender\/sketchup-import.php#renaming\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Google Earth KMZ read instructions here<\/a> before also skipping. For detailed instructions exporting models from SketchUp go here &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/sketchup-import\/\">Blender SketchUp Import<\/a> &#8211; SketchUp and 3D Warehouse meshes tend to contain a lot of unnecessary material that should be removed during export to limit clean-up in Blender.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/3d-warehouse\/sketchup-export.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/3d-warehouse\/sketchup-export.jpg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Depending on the format downloaded the model may need to be exported as a DAE file\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Depending on thr format downloaded it may need to be exported from SketchUp as a *.dae file.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"dae-import\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"dae-import\"><\/span>DAE Import<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To open the 3D Warehouse file in Blender 2.8 it needs to be imported. From the <b>File<\/b> menu click <b>Import<\/b>, then <b>Collada (Default) (DAE)<\/b> &#8211; <b>File &raquo; Import &raquo; Collada (Default) (DAE)<\/b>. In the File Browser find and select the DAE file previously exported or saved from 3D Warehouse and click the <b>Import COLLADA<\/b> button top-right.
