In this exercise we take a look at using the IMVU Toolkit for Blender to make a simple wrist band or strap that&#8217;s then exported and assembled in Studio. <\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #ddecf3; color: #000;\"><p><b>Download<\/b>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/files\/imvu\/katsbits - toolkit bracelet.zip\">KatsBits &#8211; Toolkit Bracelet<\/a> (1 MB, *.blend, *.png, *.fbx).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: Accessory items are not limited to simple objects, they can be as complex as any other product. Keep the following in mind however;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"initial-avatar-selection\"><\/span>Initial Avatar Selection<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>initially when clicking the <b>Append Attachment File<\/b> button only a skeleton is shown so an Accessory target can be more easily selected &#8211; buttons will remain inoperable until a target <b>Bone<\/b> is set [9]. Once this is done the accessory can be meshed in situ before final export prep. To switch between male and female click the <b>Male<\/b> and <b>Female<\/b> buttons (both use the same underlying skeleton).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu-studio\/studio-toolkit-accessory-initial.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu-studio\/studio-toolkit-accessory-initial.jpg\" alt=\"Selecting the target armature\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>A target Bone [9] has to be set before the avatar displays. This can be done using the eyedropper or selecting a bone from the Bone list.<\/i><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"bone-alignment\"><\/span>Bone Alignment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Once the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/tag\/accessory\/\">Accessory has been meshed<\/a> the items skeletal hierarchy needs to be established by positioning an Armature at the target bone, e.g. an Armature placed at rtHand &#8211; select the accessory mesh and click <b>Align to Bone<\/b> [12]. Next the mesh needs to be associated with the Armature by adding a Vertex Group &#8211; select the mesh and click <b>Setup Mesh<\/b> [11].<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu-studio\/studio-toolkit-accessory-setup.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 98.5%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu-studio\/studio-toolkit-accessory-setup.jpg\" alt=\"Prepping accessory for export\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Once the target Bone is set the accessory can be meshed in situ and then prepped for export clicking the <b>Align to Bone<\/b> [10] and <b>Setup Mesh<\/b> [11] buttons to create the necessarily relationship between mesh and Armature.<\/i><\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #9d2600; color: #fff; width:98.5%; padding: 1.0em;\"><b>Important<\/b>: depending on the Toolkit version the <b>Align to Bone<\/b> and <b>Setup Mesh<\/b> buttons are combined into a single <b>Setup Mesh<\/b> button [i] that performs all the necessary prep in one action.
