Here a selection can be arranged relative to a cardinal axis such that they might maintain their height (Z) relative to neighbouring elements, but their width (X) or depth (Y) might be adjust to be identical, resulting in an linear positioning. In <i>Object Mode<\/i> this is done using <b>Align Objects<\/b>. In <i>Edit Mode<\/i> this has to be done using shortcut keys.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"align-objects\"><\/span>Align Objects<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>In <b>Object Mode<\/b> selections can be aligned to a given axis using <b>Align Objects<\/b>. To do this, first make a selection and from the <b>Object<\/b> menu click <b>Transform<\/b> [1] then <b>Align Objects<\/b> [2] &#8211; <b><i>Object \u00bb Transform \u00bb Align Objects<\/i><\/b>. Here different options [3] can be applied to reposition selections as a group relative to each other, and a particular axis or orientation [4].<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"align-vertex-edge-faces\"><\/span>Align Vertex, Edge, Faces<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The ability to align selections in <b>Edit Mode<\/b> isn&#8217;t immediately apparent because there isn&#8217;t a specific menu item or tool available. Instead the operation has to be initiated using the <b>Scale<\/b> widget in combination with a shortcut key, and\/or as a chain shortcuts. To use the widget, make a selection and toggle into <b>Edit Mode<\/b>. Switch to the <b>Scale<\/b> [5] manipulation widget, click-drag an axis indicator to start the action [6], which also locks the orientation, then whilst still initialised, press <span class=\"shortcutkey\">0<\/span> (zero) or <span class=\"shortcutkey\">NumPad 0<\/span>. Alternatively, with selection made press <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span> (free-Scale), <span class=\"shortcutkey\">X<\/span>\/<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Y<\/span>\/<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Z<\/span> (orientation axis) then <span class=\"shortcutkey\">0<\/span> or <span class=\"shortcutkey\">NumPad 0<\/span>.
