To do this, set up a material with Image Texture node as usual and generate or link an image. In the <b>Image Editor<\/b> use the <b>Browse Image to be linked<\/b> [1] drop-down an select the image to be saved &#8211; it will appear in the areas workspace [2]. Next, click the &#8216;hamburger&#8217; menu, <b>\u2261<\/b> [3], and from the list select <b>Image<\/b> then <b>Save<\/b> &#8211; <b><i>\u2261 \u00bb Image \u00bb Save<\/i><\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>), <b>Save As&#8230;<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>) or <b>Save a Copy&#8230;<\/b> [4] (\u00bb Save As&#8230;, \u00bb Save a Copy). The <b>File View<\/b> window will then appear allowing the image to be (re)saved to a location of choice.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/shading-workspace-browse-image.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/shading-workspace-browse-image.jpg\" alt=\"Browse Image to be linked\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>The image that needs to be saved has to be &#8216;active&#8217; in the <b>Image Editor<\/b> so use the <b>Browse Image to be linked<\/b> [1] drop-down menu to select the image to be (re)saved [2].<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/shading-workspace-save.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/shading-workspace-save.jpg\" alt=\"Saving an image in Shading Workspace\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Once an image is shown in the <b>Image Editor<\/b> work area click the &#8216;hamburger&#8217; menu icon to access the various save options, which opens the <b>File View<\/b> where the format. location and other properties can be set.<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"uv-editing-workspace\"><\/span>UV Editing Workspace<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When editing UV maps in <b>UV Editing<\/b> workspace images can be (re)saved from within the <b>UV Editor<\/b> (left side). To do this, ensure the image to be (re)saved is visible in the workspace by first selecting it using the <b>Browse Image to be linked<\/b> [5] drop-down, then from the <b>Image<\/b> menu [6] select <b>Save<\/b> &#8211; <b><i>Image \u00bb Save<\/i><\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>), <b>Save As&#8230;<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>) or <b>Save a Copy&#8230;<\/b>. The <b>File View<\/b> will open providing save and location options.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: saving images from within the UV Editor is useful for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/bake-normal-maps\/\">texture baking<\/a> (Bake) as the operation can be performed with UVs visible to monitor progress and check for errors in real-time &#8211; in this context the <b>Image<\/b> menu displays a star append, <b>*<\/b>, i.e. <b>Image*<\/b>, to indicate data that needs to be saved.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/uv-editing-workspace-save.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/uv-editing-workspace-save.jpg\" alt=\"Saving an image in UV Editing Workspace\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>To save images from within the UV Editor they need to be visible in the workspace beforehand [5]. They can then be saved from the Image menu [6].<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"texture-paint-workspace\"><\/span>Texture Paint Workspace<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>When painting or modifying images in Texture Paint workspace, or using the Image Editor, images can similarly be saved within the editor. To do this, again ensure the image to be saved is visible in the workspace using the <b>Browse Image to be linked<\/b> drop-down, or in the <b>Active Tools and Workspace settings<\/b> panel (Properties), highlighting the appropriate entry in the <b>Texture Slots<\/b> aperture [7]. In the <b>Image Editor<\/b> (left side) click the <b>Image<\/b> menu, then select <b>Save<\/b> &#8211; <b><i>Image \u00bb Save<\/i><\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>), <b>Save As&#8230;<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>) or <b>Save a Copy&#8230;<\/b>. The <b>File View<\/b> will open providing save and location options.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: similar to UV editing, the <b>Image<\/b> menu displays a star append, <b>*<\/b>, i.e. <b>Image*<\/b>, against the displayed image to indicate data that&#8217;s needing to be saved.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/texture-paint-save.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/texture-paint-save.jpg\" alt=\"Saving an image in Texture Paint Workspace\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Using the <b>Texture Paint<\/b> Workspace, once something has been modified [7], images can be (re)saved from the <b>Image Editor<\/b> (left side) [8].<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"rendering-workspace\"><\/span>Rendering Workspace<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Another Workspace where images can be saved is <b>Rendering<\/b>. This applies to the workspace itself and the <b>Blender Render<\/b> window overlay that appears when <span class=\"shortcutkey\">F12<\/span> is pressed to render a sequence or single image. To do this, once a sequence or single image has been rendered [9], from the <b>Image<\/b> menu select <b>Save<\/b> [10] &#8211; <b><i>Image \u00bb Save<\/i><\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>), <b>Save As&#8230;<\/b> (<span class=\"shortcutkey\">Shift<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">Alt<\/span> + <span class=\"shortcutkey\">S<\/span>) or <b>Save a Copy&#8230;<\/b> as required. In the <b>File View<\/b> window that appears file and location options will be available.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>Design note<\/b>: as with other editors the <b>Image<\/b> menu appears with a <b>*<\/b> append, <b>Image*<\/b>, when data has been generated or changed and needs to be saved &#8211; format options available when saving differ depending on what&#8217;s being saved, a single image or movie sequence, and what settings were used during rendering (<b>Output<\/b> Properties).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/rendering-save.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/save\/rendering-save.jpg\" alt=\"Saving an image in Rendering Workspace\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Saving images in Rendering Workspace is similar to other editor that access image data.
