First the default Cube is deleted and replaced with a relatively low-resolution Sphere &#8211; <i><b>Add \u00bb Mesh \u00bb UV Sphere<\/b><\/i>. Next, once the mesh is shaped its given a Material assignment before being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/codex\/uv-editing\/\">UV Unwrapped and UV Mapped<\/a>, &#8211; the layout is exported as a <i>texture map<\/i> for IMVU &#8211; <b><i>UV \u00bb Export UV Layout<\/i><\/b>. This can be addressed by manually editing UV&#8217;s, selecting individual UV vertices and, optionally, &#8216;pinning&#8217; them in place (UV Editor <b>UV \u00bb Pin<\/b> or press <span class=\"shortcutkey\">P<\/span>), to modify the maps eventual layout. Taking this corrective action however, may not expressly solve UV\/image stretching, and instead may just change where that might occur.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu\/unwrap-default.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu\/unwrap-default.jpg\" alt=\"The standard UV map of a spherical object in Blender\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>The default UV map generated by Blender when unwrapping a spherical object that&#8217;s split using a Seam; it results in a best effort attempt to cover curved structure with minimal UV or image stretching.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu\/unwrap-modified.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/imvu\/unwrap-modified.jpg\" alt=\"Manually editing a spherical UV map in Blender\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Modifying a UV map to formalise its appearance, in this instance making it more like a regulated grid, make solve some UV and image stretching whilst introducing it to others &#8211; texture density changes across the entire map more significantly using this layout style.<\/i><\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"normal-maps\"><\/span>Normal Maps<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>To generate normal maps in Blender switch the <b>Render Engine<\/b> to <b>Cycles<\/b> in <b>Render<\/b> properties where the necessary <b>Bake<\/b> will then be available.
