For MacOS the path to these locations is typically; <\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #e7faea; color: #000; font-family: courier; border-left-width:4px; border-left-color:#00DD46; width: 98.5%; padding: 1.0em; font-size:0.85em\">[drive] \u00bb Users \u00bb [user] \u00bb Library \u00bb Application Support \u00bb Blender \u00bb [version] \u00bb scripts \u00bb addons<\/div>\n<p>For example; <\/p>\n<div style=\"background-color: #e7faea; color: #000; font-family: courier; border-left-width:4px; border-left-color:#00DD46; width: 98.5%; padding: 1.0em; font-size:0.85em\">Mac HD \u00bb Users \u00bb katsbits \u00bb Library \u00bb Application Support \u00bb Blender \u00bb 5.0 \u00bb scripts \u00bb addons<\/div>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Design note<\/strong>: the &#8216;version&#8217; folder, e.g. &#8220;5.0&#8221;, corresponds to the version or versions of Blender installed, acting as a local script and addon storage for each iteration so they don&#8217;t interfere with each other.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/macos\/macos-addons-folder.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/macos\/macos-addons-folder.jpg\" alt=\"Addons folder location for MacOS\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Blender stores custom or third-party scripts and addons as a location within a User profile, and crucially an otherwise hidden <strong>Library<\/strong> folder (see below).<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"library-folder\"><\/span>Library Folder<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>By default the Library folder is hidden from view because it&#8217;s a system or protected location. To see it, in <strong>Finder<\/strong> click on the <strong>View<\/strong> menu then <strong>Show View Options<\/strong> &#8211; <strong><em>View \u00bb Show View Options<\/em><\/strong> [1]. In the &#8216;user&#8217; panel that appears click the <strong>Show Library Folder<\/strong> checkbox [2]. The <strong>Library<\/strong> folder will then be visible in the &#8216;user&#8217; directory (top-level).<\/p>\n<blockquote style=\"background-color: #fc0; color: #000;\"><p><strong>Important<\/strong>: administrative privileges may be necessary to enable and access the Library folder as displaying it also grants access to other &#8216;system&#8217; locations.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/macos\/show-library-folder.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: auto;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.katsbits.com\/images\/tutorials\/macos\/show-library-folder.jpg\" alt=\"Displaying the Library folder\" width=\"900px\" height=\"500px\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<i>Custom scripts and addons are placed &#8216;scripts&#8217; and &#8216;addons&#8217; that sit inside the <strong>Library<\/strong> folder of the &#8216;user&#8217;. It&#8217;s hidden by default [1] so may need to be enabled [2] for access.<\/i><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"user-data\"><\/span>User Data<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Similarly, the corresponding user profile might not be displayed either, Finder defaulting to showing a limited set of Sidebar options. To change or check this, with Finder open click <strong>Finder<\/strong> then on <strong>Settings&#8230;<\/strong> &#8211; <strong><em>Finder \u00bb Settings&#8230;<\/em><\/strong> [3].
