$10,000 still up for grabs [28th June 05] ^

Yup, that's right. Electronic Arts just passed along word that the competition they have running alongside the recent release of Medal of Honor : European Assault is still unclaimed as no one has cracked the code. You need to have beaten the game in 'Hero' (hardest setting) and reported the results back to the MoH HQ, the 1st person to do so wins the $10,000.

You've got until the 4th July.

Hints and tips are on how to do this are apparently on the MoH : EA forums.

Infosprite closes up shop [22nd June 05] ^

InfoSprite has sadly shut it's doors after a long and distinguished number of years hosting maps and assets and providing a 'portal' for the Quake3 gaming community. It's sad to see it go - and could be read as another nail in the coffin for Quake3 - but Quake3Bits sends a 'GG' (Good Game) out to json @ infosprite. All the best matey.

As a number of files were being mirrored there you may encounter a few dead links on Quake3Bits. Bear with me whilst these get sorted out.

ET : QuakeWars [21st June 05] ^

SplashDamage has let it be known that their site for their upcoming game Enemy Territory : QuakeWars has gone live. It's currently got background info on the game and a flash based version of the hackyCam video taken at E3 recently. It's a flash based site so may take a while to load on dialup.

Bet on Soldier media [18th June 05] ^

News just in. Publishers Digital Jesters sent word of a screensaver (.exe file) for their upcoming game Bet on Soldier, which includes some footage - a blood dripped pile of cash - from the movie linked to from a previous news item. Certainly makes a changes from 'swimming fish'.!

Doom 3 smoothgroups [6th June 05] ^

New tutorial added to the site, this time dealing with how Doom 3 uses smoothgroups on models - or rather how it doesn't use them as you'd expect. It runs through what you need to know to get them (smoothgroups) to work correctly with 'expected' results.

nosferatu the game [6th June 05] ^

Nosferatu the game (Nosferatuthegame), potentially another GPL 'FREE' game based on previous id engine tech (Quake 'X' engine). The developers are aiming to make it a stand alone game so you won't need to have or buy the original version of Quake the game is based upon.

The news relateing to Quake3Bits is that they'll be using some of the assets available from this site, textures and models for inclusion in the game. Should be interesting to see how they use them.

"Nosferatu is a teambased multiplayer first person shooter. It involves roundbased (each player got 1 life a round just like in the famous computer game counterstrike) vampire slaying action with an persistant rpg system. The game is based on heavily improved idSoftware engine technology, and will be free. There are playeraccounts which save gameplay stats and unlocked weapons, skills, ehancements as well as skins and models. If you want to know more about Nosferatu visit the FAQ"

Grab a game FREE..! [6th June 05] ^

Yup, that's right, a FREE game. Essentially Nexiuz is a multiplayer only (internet) FPS based on a heavily modified Quake (original Quake) engine that now supports some of the more modern features we're starting to see in various gemes; bumpmaps, dynamic lighting etc. It looks pretty interesting based on the engine it's running on soit's worth checking out if can manage to grab the files - a whapping 160MB of FREEbie goodness.

"It is a 3d deathmatch game made entirely over the internet. The purpose of the game is to bring deathmatch back to the basics, with perfect weapon balancing and fast paced action, keeping itself away from the current trend of realistic shooters. It uses HFX textures by Evil Lair, and currently has 17 maps to frag in. With an advanced UI, the user can select between 15 different player models to use, with an average of two skins for each, and can connect to our master server to play people from all over the world."

MoH : European Assault [3rd June 05] ^

Medal of Honor : European Assault is the next installment of the long running WWII themed FPS and it looks like this next 'episode', although this release is only only for consoles - X-Box, PS2 and GameCube - it still looks like it's living up to the standrads set by previous outings. Click the banner below for info.

Don't forget EA are still running the $10k ($10,000) challange in conjuction with the release of this game. You can find details and rules about this competition on the official site (USA and Canada unfortunately).
